The Parur Welfare Association was formed in 1993 and subsequently registered under Kerala Charitable Societies Act in 2001 by the people hailing/connected from Parur Taluk, Ernakulam District, Kerala, with a sole intention to help the poor and needy people. Till March 2015, we were able to provide financial assistance to a substantial number of deserving cases which includes:
- Assistance for heart surgery/treatment for 258 cases
- Assistance for cancer treatment for 506 cases
- Assistance for tumour surgery for 26 cases
- Assistance for kidney transplantation/dialysis treatment for 126 cases
- Provided medical treatment for 786 persons
- Provided Artificial Leg for 3 persons
- Provided Wheel Chair for 4 persons
- Provided assistance for Higher Education of 247 students
- Constructed and donated two Houses to two poor families from Chendamangalam
- Provided assistance for the maintenance of 30 houses
- Provide Family Medical Insurance Coverage to 26 poor families
- Provided one telephone booth for a handicapped
- Provided support for marriage of eleven
- Provided facilities for livelihood for 27 persons
- Provided Pettykkada (small wooden shops) for 2 persons
Every year the association meets the expenses of:
- 10 poor students for Plus 1 studies
- 10 poor students for Plus 2 studies
- 35 poor students for primary school studies
Apart from the above, we regularly undertake projects for the welfare of the community. In 2001, we had constructed a Vocational Training Centre for the handicapped children, being run by the Rotary Club of Parur. During September 2002, we had renovated three toilets of the Govt Taluk Hospital, N. Parur. In March 2003, we had constructed two toilets for the Govt Girls Higher Secondary School, N. Parur. In Sep 2008, we had constructed and donated our first small house to a widow Smt. Viji Gopalan, Kattopadath House, Kizhakkumpuram, Chendamangalam.
In Aug 2012, we had constructed and donated our second small house to Smt. Anitha Madhu, Thattaru Parambil, Kizhakkumpuram, Chendamangalam. Association regularly arranges blood donation campaign for the members and well-wishers.
